At that point, the demo slowed down a bit and heads started bobbin'.
That was the scene back in January, when YB+KS did their thing at Midwest Skatefest 08, an annual skateboarding/music fest in the Chicago area. They had us bumpin ! Some groups have good flow but lack presence. Some groups have gimmicks and no flow. These cats were just plain Good. It amazed me how they could be running all over the place (thanks to wireless mics) and not just rapping but throwing down some heavy lyrical skills on top of some of the most creative Hip-Hop beats i've heard in a long while.. one even had on some 80's gym shorts.. SIMPLY AMAZING.
Yea Big + Kid Static are blowing up. Their video for the single "The Life Here" has been a featured video on both YouTube and at 2008's SXSW Film Festival. The duo's self titled album has received rave reviews and was recently featured by such industry gurus as Pitchfork Media, URB Magazine, XLR8R and Buzzgrinder. They also caught a high when recently rated "Buzzworthy" by MTV.
Hype Promotions is making it possible for the upcoming Yea Big + Kid Static East Coast Spring tour where they'll surely have heads talking. Talking about that wild duo that not only was all over the stage, crowd, ceiling and floor but did it sounding better than most groups studio sessions do...
Long live creativity in Hip-Hop and those with the guts to be themselves.
